School Wrestling
Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation (NSSAF) runs a free-style wrestling program at school level for jr high and high school students. The school wrestling season runs late November until March. The teams meet a few times a week at the school and compete at local tournaments and at a regional competition. Top three teams from each region go on to provincials. This is a great way to get introduced to the sport.
Your school doesn't have a wrestling team? Contact your physical education teacher or principal to see if you can make it happen - sometimes you only have to ask and show interest for things to happen.
If that doesn't work - contact us at enickerson@sportnovascotia.ca and we'll see if we can work with your school to get something set-up for you!
Club Wrestling
Wresting Nova Scotia (WNS) is the provincial body providing the core services and support to freestyle/greco wrestling clubs across Nova Scotia. Many wrestling clubs operate all year long and you do not need any wrestling experience to join. Please see our club page to find a club near you.
Club wrestling can offer great opportunities! This last year we had Nova Scotia youth wrestlers compete all over Canada, USA, Argentina, Peru and in the Canada 2017 Summer Games. We have one wrestler attending a top-ranked US prep school on full scholarship because of his involvement with wrestling.
2021 Canada Summer Games are around the corner. You could be on the wrestling team if you start wrestling now!
